AISLE /ATION is a project by ‘_Souterrain14’ which investigates constructed situations. _Souterrain14 is a young project space and invites artists to respond to spatial structure initiated by _Souterrain14.
The starting point for this project is the architectural concept of a hallway, initially known as a way(space) to transit from one livingspace to the other. Because we are part of a culture of movement this transit-space can be revised as a architectural concept as well as metaphor of a state of being.
Looking at the hallway form a domestic point of view it is not only a space to transit from one livingspace to the other. It also connects the individual inside world to the outer collective
world in the same way we mentally leave our home when being online. In both cases we consider this as an important way of transiting. A moment in our day to day life whereby the collective opinion becomes part of the individual perspective and were highly constructed situations become part of our reality. With AISLE / ATION we question what the world would look like when we would only live in spaces of transition physically as well as virtually.
